About

About Daoud Mosque & the Islamic Mission
The Islamic Mission of America, also known as Daoud Mosque, is a historical landmark huddled in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn Heights. The mosque is named after its founder, Sheikh Daoud Al Faisal, who also founded 'The Islamic Mission of America'.

Since its founding in the 1920's or early 1930's, this place of worship has been serving as a beacon of faith, serenity, and cordiality for its visitors and the community at large. This role has been further enhanced by the welcoming, culturally-diverse and friendly neighborhood surrounding the mosque.

This ever-evolving symbiosis is clearly reflected in the generous, open, and inclusive spirit inherent in the mosque. Every Ramadan (the Muslim month of fasting), it's been tradition that the board of trustees of the mosque holds a one-time festive Iftar (Breaking of the Fast) dinner for the neighbors. This is in addition to a daily Iftar for the visiting worshippers, usually supported by local philanthropists.

The Daoud mosque features a three-story brownstone building with a well-maintained prayer hall on each level, including a dedicated women's prayer area. The mosque also features a well-maintained and clean ablution facilities.

In addition to the usual 5 daily congregational prayers held at the mosque, the Jumua (Friday) congregation is particularly attractive, drawing a very large crowd. The mosque also offers Quranic and other lessons. During Ramadan, Daily Taraweeh prayers are held with beautiful Quran recitations and talks.

The Dawood Mosque is ever evolving as a genuine sanctuary of faith and a beacon of peace, community engagement, and a center for enlightenment with a mission, The Islamic Mission' - and with the collaboration of righteous people, further progress and development is yet to come, so is the plan.

Been praying here for years and it only gets better. Recent renovations made the prayer hall beautiful. The community iftar during Ramadan is a highlight.
