ABOUT
Tawfiq Islamic Center (TIC) is the first and the largest Oromo Muslim Mosque and Community Center in North America. We are based in twin cities in the State of Minnesota, USA. We have over a thousand families that we are serving in person through our different programs. We also have an online presence through our television called Oromia Islamic Television. Through this tv, we reach tens of thousands of Oromo Muslim audiences living around the world.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Oromo people are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia and they are believed to be the second largest group in Africa. Finally, after many efforts, the community bought Masjid Tawfiq in 2004. Since 2006, Masjid Tawfiq is known as Tawfiq Islamic Center, and in 2007 it became a Faith-Based organization with 501 c (3) IRS Compliant.
