Emgage: Empowering Muslim Americans Through Civic Engagement

Emgage educates and mobilizes Muslim American voters in support of policies that enable our communities to thrive and democracy to flourish. We believe in collective action to protect our pluralistic democracy and seek to move the needle on issues that deeply impact Muslim communities, and reshape political narratives that have often sidelined our communities from participating in the political process.
Our work is rooted in the Islamic values of justice, mercy, peace, human dignity, and equality for all. We believe in the transformative power of political and civic participation, and we are guided by the collective strength of our diverse Muslim community. We believe in our pluralistic democracy and embrace all individuals, regardless of the type of Islam they observe or how frequently they practice, ensuring that everyone sees themselves reflected in our work. We show up for the oppressed and those in pain, stand firm against all forms of injustice, and work tirelessly for the shared liberation of all people. Our commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and humanity drives us to make change happen, ensuring that every voice is heard and every person can live with dignity, safety, and freedom.

What does Emgage do within the community?

Get Out The Vote Programming: Through targeted canvassing, personalized texting, phone banking, and strategic ad campaigns, we ensure that voters are not only educated about critical issues and candidates but also motivated to turn out for every election, every year. Our efforts are designed to engage diverse communities and foster a culture of consistent civic participation, ensuring that all voices are heard at the polls.

Public Forums & Town Halls: We regularly host public forums, community town halls, and candidate forums to foster dialogue and ensure Muslim communities are heard in the political process.

Emerging Leaders Program: Our Emerging Leaders Program equips the next generation of Muslim leaders with the tools they need to create meaningful, actionable change in their communities and beyond.

The Muslim Civic Table: A convening program designed to strengthen and connect leading Muslim nonprofit organizations, advocates, and community leaders. This serves as a central hub to unite the broader Muslim community and its allies, fostering collaboration and shared advocacy efforts.

Voter Registration Efforts: We are committed to increasing voter registration within the Muslim community, ensuring that our voices are represented in local, state, and national elections.

Civic Engagement Series: Through both webinars and in-person events, we offer a series focused on civic engagement, educating our communities on how to participate in the political process and impact lasting progress.

Muslim Day at City Hall: In several of our chapter states, we organize “Muslim Day at City Hall,” bringing community members together to engage directly with their local government and advocate for issues that matter most.
